HERO HOUSE: AN OVERLOOKED RESOURCE FOR INDIVIDUALS
WITH SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS
Lack of self-esteem and isolation are two of the main issues faced by
individuals with mental illness. Membership in HERO House can help with
these and other roadblocks to recovery.
HERO House is often overlooked as a resource for adults with serious mental
illness. A free clubhouse, members are provided with educational,
vocational, and social opportunities. Its mission is to facilitate the recovery
and rehabilitation of adults with mental illness in East King County. Their goal
is to help members achieve and sustain satisfying, meaningful roles and lives in
the community.
Olga Yarmoshik has been Program Coordinator of HERO House for
the past seven years. She will be accompanied by several members of HERO House
who will explain the programs and results of their participation. Join us
as we learn how HERO House can help individuals with mental illness.
June 18, 2013, Elaine Duncan, M.A., LMHC, Autism spectrum
